Hair Growth Tips
Be patient and squash the urge to get a full cut. This is a great opportunity to discover what length looks best on you.
Try out some new hairstyles. Take a cue from celebrities and enjoy diversity.
Invest in some hair accessories such as head-bands, barrettes, bobby pins, hair sticks, and ties. Use these to pin back awkward areas or wear a full-fledged bun or pony-tail.
When growing bangs out, you can pin them back or swoop them to the side.
If your hair is thick, ask your stylist to use thinning scissors to keep your hair more manageable.
Longer hair requires more time to maintain and style. Be sure to rinse out all of your shampoo and condition it properly.
There is no magic pill for hair growth but taking a multi-vitamin, eating healthy foods, and getting your beauty sleep is beneficial to both your hair and skin.
Avoid brushes and use only a wide-toothed comb on wet hair to avoid frizz and split ends.
If you really can't wait, go to the salon and have a professional add some hair extensions. Keep in mind that this is not a permanent fix and can damage your hair over time. Better yet, buy some inexpensive, clip-on extensions and pony tails. These can be found at beauty supply stores and drug stores

Painting & Decorating Fingernails
Be creative when you give yourself manicures! Add wild colors, decals and stickers specifically designed for your fingernails.
Looking Good - http://lookinggood.gophercentral.com
First, you will need a good surface to work with.
- To avoid air bubbles in your polish, do not shake the bottle.
Roll it gently in the palm of your hands before applying.
- Apply your fingernail polish in three strokes, one in the middle and one on each side, taking special care to avoid your skin and cuticles.
- If you are in a hurry, or plan to redo your nails soon, apply only two coats of polish. Allow the first coat to dry before adding the second coat.
- For longer staying polish, apply one base coat, two coats of polish, and finish it off with a top coat to prevent chipping.
- Metallic nail polishes stay on much longer without chipping, but they are much harder to remove.
- Apply the polish to the edge, underneath the tip of the nail to reinforce the area.
- When you are finished, clean up any additional polish on your skin and cuticles with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover.
- Let your nails dry completely for about 30 minutes before doing anything, and do not go to bed with wet polish.
- If your favorite polish is getting old and thick, add a bit of polish thinner or remover to revive it.

Hair Loss: Stress Related Causes
Stress can cause hair loss. Excessive emotional or physical stress generally contributes in two types of hair loss. The first type is telogen effluvium and is very severe. In this type the growth of the hair is stopped and lies dormant that falls after a long gap of three months. The replacement process also takes equally more time that might range from six to nine months. The other type is called alopecia areata where the white blood attacks on the follicles of the hair. The hair falls within patches, usually. But sometimes it involves the entire scalp and in extreme cases body hair. Though the hair grows back. But it is important to start with hair loss treatment as quickly as possible.

Choosing Fragrance and Perfume
Women often choose their fragrance according to their personality and chemistry without even realizing it. What appeals to them often reflects their personal self.
Fragrances smell different on everybody, so it is best not to test a scent on a friend. When shopping, stick to no more than three or four perfumes so you do not confuse them. A fragrance will smell different several minutes after you apply it, so give it some time before making any decisions.

Long Hair Care: Don’t Overdo It With Heat
When you have long hair, you understand the time it takes to get it dry. Sure, a blow dryer may seem like the most obvious tool to use for this task. However, the amount of heat you need to dry long hair completely can damage your hair. Think about allowing your hair to air-dry for about 20 minutes after washing it. Then you can attack it with the hair dryer. It will cut down on your drying time and the amount of heat exposure your hair gets.

Home Manicure Tips
Properly groomed fingernails are not only attractive, they are practical. While maintaining your nails, keep in mind that with a great manicure, you are less likely to have to repair them later.
Painting your fingernails is an art and it's fun! This do-it- yourself fingernail guide is intended for those who don't have the time to visit a manicurist and wish to do it at home, or simply don't want to spend the money. Remember, your hands will show age before the rest of your body. Take care of them, keep them moisturized and well manicured -- and you can defy the experts.
Filing and Buffing Your Fingernails
Before you begin an at-home manicure, Place your metal nail tools in an antiseptic solution for about 15 minutes to kill any bacteria and germs.
- Remove your old polish before you begin.
- Never file the nail in a back and forth motion. Instead, go from side to side, in one direction.
- Your nails should be shaped into oval tips.
- Buff the surface of the fingernail after filing.

Top Reasons to Get Moving
1. Lift your mood. Exercise relieves anxiety and depression in men and women of all ages. In college students, recreational fitness activities relieve stress-related symptoms.
2. Protect your heart. Exercise increases the supply of oxygen to the heart by expanding existing arteries and creating tiny new blood vessels. It may also prevent blood clots from forming.
3. Sleep better. Exercise helps people fall asleep faster, sleep longer, and sleep better, possibly by relaxing muscles or reducing stress.
4. Cut colon cancer risk. Active people have lower rates of colon cancer, possibly because exercise increases the rate at which waste moves through the colon.
5. Lower blood pressure. If your blood pressure isn't high, exercise will keep it that way. If it is, regular exercise can lower it.
6. Get strong. Exercise increases the circulation of blood in the muscles, so they become firmer, function more smoothly, and are capable of withstanding more strain.
7. Lower the risk of gallstones. In women (who are more likely to develop gallstones than men), exercise greatly reduces the incidence of gallstones and the need for surgery to remove them.
8. Burn calories. Exercise helps speed up metabolism, build more lean body mass, and prevent obesity.
9. Strengthen your bones. Exercise, especially strength training, increases bone density and prevents osteoporosis.
10. Put more life in your years—and possibly more years in your life. Physical activity slows the aging process, so you remain healthier and more active for a longer time. If you work out often and vigorously enough, you can actually extend your life span.

Correct Your Body Image and Start Loving Your Body Again!
I remember being 6 years old and sitting at home on the floor with my legs stretched out in front of me. I was looking at my legs and thinking they were cute and perfect. Not in a conceited way - I just loved my body. I also remember staring close into the mirror at my eyes and marveling at the little lines and different colors in the iris, and watching my pupils dilate and contract. I was amazed at my body. It didn't occur to me to care how I looked to anyone else.
But by the time I was 13 I was wearing makeup, plucking my eyebrows, shaving my legs, dressing to highlight my curves, and exercising to try to get that right body shape. What had caused this change? At that age, all of my peers had become aware of the opposite sex and were starting to have boyfriends. Many were having sex. Everyone was trying to be more attractive than the others. I felt like I had to compete with other girls to attract a boyfriend. I had to look like the women in the music videos if any boy was ever going to like me. Whoever didn't meet the standard when it came to beauty and fashion was falling behind socially. I felt that society imposed this standard and it was reinforced by everyone around me, even the adults, who encouraged me to look more attractive and grown-up.
If it isn't hard enough already, the standard for beauty continues to be raised. It has now become impossible to keep up with the best of them without multiple surgeries and spending the bulk of your time and money focused on your appearance. Not only is this impractical, it is also unhealthy and a waste of our life. Do we feel different about ourselves because of this impractical standard of beauty?
A 2003 study found that exposure to a few fashion models could have a significant effect on body image ideals. College students were separated into two equal groups. One group was shown images of thin models while the other group was shown images of plus-size models. They were then asked to choose the ideal body size for women.
Perception of the body image ideal was thinner for those who saw thin models in comparison to those who saw plus-size models. In both the thin and plus-models conditions, women's ratings of the ideal was thinner than men's ratings.
According to a 2008 body survey in the UK magazine Fabulous, women say their ideal body size is a US size 6. When asked, the men said they thought the ideal female body size should be a US size 10.
It was found in an earlier college study that young women systematically overestimate men's preference for a thin female ideal, whereas young men overestimate women's preference for a heavier and muscular male ideal. Also, most people sought a significantly thinner ideal than their current weight, no matter their age.
A study in 2000 found that with the media constantly reinforcing idealized norms of attractiveness and thinness, repeated comparison with these norms obviously explains the formation of distorted self-ideals. But what was interesting was not everyone was equally vulnerable to the internalization of these norms. It was proven that many women are able to either simply reject it, or take a more multidimensional view of the self, in which the ideal body image is assigned less importance.
Well, it's time for all women to take that more multidimensional view. Why are we women so hard on ourselves when it comes to body image? We've established that we're harder on ourselves than we need to be to attract men. This is because we're comparing ourselves to the images we see in the media. Let's stop worrying so much about looks, and start living! After all, the bulk of our appearance is dictated by genetics and can't be changed. Why worry about what we can't change? Let's get back to that self-love that is based upon the wonder and natural beauty of the body, and not on what men or others might think of us.

How to Protect and Care for Your Hair at Night
Many women find long hair annoying when they sleep. They often throw their hair up into a ponytail or a tight bun, just to get it out of their face during the night. This can be damaging to long hair. Bedtime hair routines should start with combing or brushing. After all tangles are out, arrange your hair into a loose braid. Tie your braid off with accessories made specifically for fine hair because they won’t cause your hair follicles to break. Sure, an old fashion rubber band can be used on your hair. But, it’s certainly an accessory you should avoid if at all possible. If you’d like, you can even wrap your hair in a silk scarf to keep it smooth and natural throughout the night.

Shopping on a Budget
Shopping for clothing, accessories, shoes and more can be tight on a family's budget no matter what the national economic situation is. Even when times are great, it’s a good idea to get more for your money. I used to just go shop right off of the racks, whatever was available that I liked. After being chided by friends repeatedly, I finally started to understand what they meant. Let's say I had $60-$70 to spend. We all know that isn't going to buy very much. Depending on where I choose to spend it, I may get an outfit out of that. Sometimes that won't buy just a pair of jeans or a skirt Let’s imagine I spend that same $60-$70 with a plan in mind, and don't mind bargain hunting to get the best deal. In that case, I honestly could get two or three outfits for that. Once, on a bargain hunt, I got a nice dress, two blouses, and a pair of shorts for $25. That's right, I said $25! So how did I do it?
I think everyone is pretty aware of clearance racks at stores, but how much attention do you pay to them? I found an end of season clearance sale at a major department store and practically the entire store was on clearance. The great thing is, I live in an area where it stays warm longer than the official end of summer, so I was able to wear those great finds for several months before the actual end of the season. So, yes, the clearance rack is a great way to save on shopping. But, what if you don't live in an area where it stays warm longer than the season? You can still take advantage of these deals, it just takes some planning ahead. Seriously, if you can get all of that for $25, grab it for next season and just wait. That's a great way to save on Halloween costumes as well. Shop the clearance when the season is over, and you've got next year's outfit. Just don't forget to buy it in a size bigger, because obviously your child will have grown by the next year.
There are some other ways besides clearance racks that a shopper can find a bargain. One is to realize that shops try to create urgency to get you to buy now. They make those sales end at a certain time on purpose! They want you to feel like you're going to miss it. So the best way to combat that is planning ahead, and not being in a hurry. Be willing to walk away from a sale if need be. Chances are, that sale will end and that item will end up on the clearance rack marked down further than the sale. Of course, this is a risky strategy if you fall in love with a certain item. There is also the chance that someone else will grab up the deal or beat you to the clearance and you won't get the item. So try not to get too attached to one thing. Pick out several items you'd like to have and don't freak out if one of them isn't there when it finally gets marked down. But think of the benefits. In one case, I saw a great dress on the clearance rack, but I had already picked out other items that used up my $25 budget for the day. So, even though I tried it on and it looked fabulous, I left it on the rack. Not to mention it was $22 and would have been my only purchase for the day. Anyway, a week or two later, I was back in the same store and the dress was still there, only this time it was $7! At that point I was glad I had walked away. I still got the dress and for $15 less!
Thrift stores are another way a bargain shopper can make their money stretch further. A lot of people find it embarrassing to shop at a thrift store, but there's no need to. You have to be willing to look through the racks, but you can find things that people obviously bought and wore once (or not at all) before they donated. If you live in an area where the donations are not as nice, maybe thrift stores are not right for you, but you should at least check it out. If there's not a thrift store near you, or the donations are not as nice, look for outlets. They can be a money saver too. It is still brand new items, they just never sold off of the original rack and had to be moved out.
Don't forget shopping online. If you've never tried it, shopping online can be a great way to find the best bargains. You can find items that aren't available in stores, and possibly even get free shipping. Look for online coupon codes to your favorite stores, and try to combine offers when possible. For instance, if there is a minimum purchase requirement for free shipping, and that same store has a coupon code, and has sale items, you could shop the sale items, use the coupon code, and get free shipping. If you are having trouble meeting the minimum order requirement you could get together with a friend and make a purchase together and both reap the benefits. Often times online coupon codes last longer than regular ones, so find out when it expires and don't worry about waiting to use it at a more convenient time if necessary.
Whatever you do, have a game plan before you shop. Set a limit of spending and stick to it, even if that means walking away (or clicking away in the case of internet shopping). This can make shopping a fund experience rather than a stressful one. You're on a treasure hunt! So, enjoy yourself and reap the rewards.

The Best Investment You Can Make Is In Yourself
"To stay young, the Doctor said to exercise and eat the right foods." What???
I thought she said ACCESSORIZE and BUY NICE SHOES."
Nothing ages you like orthopedic shoes, wearing gym shoes outside the gym, shoes you can not walk in, shoes that are out of style or sensible shoes. Thankfully, you no longer have to sacrifice fit for fashion.
Men: women notice shoes so buy expensive shoes that look great. Wear executive length socks with your dress shoes and if you really want the WOW factor, wear great ties!
Nothing ages you like dark lipstick, lipstick bleeding in to fine lines, cracked lips, thin lips, obvious lip liner, overly matte lipstick or obviously fake plumped lips.
Nothing ages you like excessive bling, exposing too much skin, showing too much cleavage, glittery makeup or fragrance overload.
Nothing ages you like obviously colored hair, too dark, a solid hair color, dull hair, gray hair or gray roots.
Nothing ages you like yellow teeth, discolored teeth, stained teeth or a mouthful of silver fillings.
The best investment you can make is in yourself.
